So if you haven’t been living under a rock, you will know that “boxer braids” are all the rage right now ever since Kim Kardashian started wearing them recently.

But this is by far not a new style and MANY, people are offended (including myself) by the main stream media calling them ‘boxer braids’ because in the black community all over the world, people have been wearing these braids and almost everyone knows they are called corn rows.

Kim Kardashian

So i'm sorry if you are offended but IT IS NOT YOUR HAIR STYLE SO YOU DONT GET TO RENAME IT! Very influential shows like Fashion Police and E! News and big fashion magazines are calling these braids 'boxer braids". The terms are Cornrows, Dutch Braids And French braids.

Katy Perry

We all know that this generation is VERY sensitive towards everything and cultural appropriation is one of the biggest ones. But in this case, they are right to be upset because the style is being worn by tons of Caucasian celebrities and even on runways for major fashion shows. The upsetting part is not that caucasian people are wearing the hairstyle, it is that they're rebranding it as their own.

Kim Kardashian

It is not wrong for other cultures to celebrate and want to do hairstyles and other trends of other cultures except when the culture that is appropriating the trend receives the credit. This is the ‘Dashiki’ story all over again.

But back to the braids, we should be glad that we can all wear this hairstyle weather we are black, white, Chinese, Mexican or whatever race and color. This is also a beautiful protective style and once you learn how to do these braids, it’s like riding a bike, it will be so easy. Just remember to RESPECT the name.

Here are some of our favorite celebs rocking the braids.

THE BOB IS BACK!

Rihanna with Bob wearing Custom Dolce & Gabbana headphones

The bob is a hairstyle that never goes out of style. It can be styled in so many ways and can be worn in any season and always has its big moments.

2016 is the year that the bob is back! For the past few years the “Lob”, which is basically a longer version of the bob, and has a length that falls between the chin and collarbone. This one of the most flattering bobs because it is easy to play around with and create a large variation of styles.

Keri Hilson

Rihanna

Rihanna and Keri Hilson made the lob quite famous especially the long/short bob where one side was short and the or was long. this was around the years 2008 and 2009. Rihanna also seems be one of the key influencers of this new reoccurrence of the bob again.

Do not be mistaken though, this is not the sharp precise Anna Wintour bob but more of a playful slightly less structured sleek bob. Anna tends to make the look harsh because of the style of bangs she has too but do not be afraid to take the risk, this new bob has been seriously updated!

Rihanna first debuted her new bob on the ‘Ellen show’ and then in her work video. It actually took a few months for the style to catch on but now stars like Gigi Hadid and Zendaya Coleman are also rocking this trend.

This years Met Gala was the event that brought out a galore of celebs showing off their variations of the bob. While we know that people always use the met gala to go wild with their fashion risks, we also know that the year's biggest trends are usually set there. Take a look at a few bobs from the event to get some inspiration of you have been feigning to get the big chop!

This an example of how to not wear the bob because Taylor girl! you need to fire your stylist. The bob is not bad but maybe on someone else.

Yasss! Jourdan! Classic and sleek, you go girl!

And lastly for some curly bob inspo, check out Miss Khloe and Jenna Dewan Tatum.
